In order to preserve their modesty, many of the sisters in our community choose Khimar. Indeed, it offers a loose and comfortable cut covering the Muslim woman and preserving her from the looks. Practical, light and generally wrinkle-proof, the Khimar has become the indispensable element of the wardrobe of any Muslim!
Yet, despite its success with our sisters, it is sometimes mistakenly confused with jilbab. In addition, some of them do not know which model to choose and what clothes to wear with. Here are some clarifications about the Khimar, this long cloth veil (scarf) that Muslim women have worn for generations.
What is a Khimar? What are the differences with jilbab?
The Khimar is a long hijab (long veil) that is easily put on. Some also call it a cape or bell. Unlike jilbab (or jilbeb), it is not accompanied by sleeves (without sleeves) and its length is less important.
At the same time ample, comfortable and practical on a daily basis, the Khimar is a garment that adapts to all morphologies, to all sizes (large size or small size) and to all your travels. With its wide cut, it offers you unlimited range of motion. Shopping, driving, carrying your children, travelling... the Khimar adapts to your lifestyle at a hundred per hour!
Thus, the Khimar is today the garment par excellence to have in his dressing room, next to his leggings (slim or skinny), his jeans, his skirts, his comfortable homewear, blouses, pants, tights and other basics.
You should also know that there are many models of khimars available to Muslim women on the market today. Khimar long, short, slit khimar, khimar point, khimar 2 sails, with or without integrated headband (to tie)... So many models to vary the styles according to the moods and tastes of each!
What clothes do you wear a Khimar with?
The Khimar (or long veil) can be worn with different clothes and accessories for women. Many outfits are therefore possible with this Muslim veil.
But the garment that is usually worn with a Khimar is of course the 'Abaya. Sometimes called "long dress", the Abaya is a wide and loose garment, covering up to the feet and accompanied by long sleeves. Abaya in Medina silk, butterfly abaya, zip abaya, microfiber or embroidered abaya, hooded, with flying sleeves, lace, with belt or sequin, abaya kimono... the models are varied in this field too!
If you have in your wardrobe a tunic (or T-shirt) with long sleeves, it will perfectly accompany the Khimar. If your tunic is short-sleeved (or your T-shirt), nothing prevents you from putting on an undershirt underneath. You can also wear it with a long skirt and a long-sleeved sweater. A blouse is also a garment adapted to the Khimar, it's up to you!
If you prefer skirts to Abayas, different models and colors are available to build your own Mastour set, combining femininity and modesty. Printed skirt, long skirt with polka dots, lace, checkered or striped, black skirt, mottled gray, dark brown, taupe, navy blue, khaki, ecru, or beige, high waist or low waist... It's according to taste!
For shoes, different styles can accompany your khimar (long scarf): derbies, women's moccasins, fancy sneakers with colorful prints (two-tone or multicolored), comfortable walking shoes, elegant boots, thin ballerinas and other must-have shoes will do the trick.
When the temperatures cool down, don't worry, you can always wear your Khimar! Simply add a printed sweatshirt (hooded for example), a warm lace or ruffled cardigan, a casual jacket, jacket, vest or down jacket (coats) and you will be protected from the cold.
Conversely, in case of high temperatures, the Khimar and its ample cut letting the air circulate will become your fresh ally. As you will have understood, the Khimar is one of the women's clothes that accompany you throughout the seasons!
Thus, the Khimar represents today one of the women's clothes to have at home, in the same way as any blouse, T-shirt, tank top, blazer or pajamas. Covering with its wide cuts, suitable for any morphology, comfortable, elegant and adapted to your needs, the khimar can be worn on all occasions. An opportunity to dress properly while seeking the pleasure of one's Lord.
